Summary
The Biligiri Rangaswamy (BR) Hills are located just to the east of the Nilgiris, with forested corridors connecting its natural areas to that of the Nilgiris and to the Western Ghats beyond. Although part of the Eastern Ghats, BR Hills’s proximity to the Western Ghats and its altitudinal extent - rising close to 2000m in parts - have resulted in much shared biota with the biodiversity rich, wet forests of the Western Ghats.
BR Hills holds a significant elephant population, shared with the neighboring forests in the Nilgiris. The deciduous and evergreen forests here also hold typical representatives of megafauna of Peninsular India, including Tiger, Leopard, Gaur, Sambar, Sloth bear and Wild dog and a diversity of smaller animals. Typical Western Ghats species are most obviously noticed among birds - including Malabar Whistling Thrush, Nilgiri Wood Pigeon and Ruby-throated Bulbul among a checklist of over 200 species - and in its flora.
As is typical for south India’s hill forests, BR Hills’s forested valleys and mountainscapes are scenically beautiful and its local forest dwelling tribes and their traditional lifestyle adds to the charm of the location. An added allure of this location is its quieter, less touristy forest routes as compared to the more popular parks in the Nilgiris.

- Bookings are confirmed only upon full payment of the tour cost and at least 15 days in advance from the proposed departure date.
- We reserve the right to cancel the tour at anytime due to unforeseen circumstances. We will refund the entire booking amount under these circumstances.

- Online credit card payments in USD/GBP/EUR are accepted through Paypal. Indian customers can also use a credit card to pay online through Paypal, but please be aware that you will be charged an additional currency conversion fee for the same.
- We accept demand drafts/cheques in INR, GBP, EUR or USD
- In case you want to cancel your booking:
- A 90% refund if cancellation requested more than one month before the proposed date of departure
- A 15% refund if cancellation requested less than one month from the proposed date of departure.

- Please bring your binoculars along - you will appreciate the sights of the forests much more with binoculars on hand. However, we will have a pair or two to share amongst us.
- Please bring essential medication with you, since the local outlets are few and far between and may not always carry what you are looking for.
